About the Prospect

The Christian Prospect is a monthly journal dedicated to the growth of Christianity in the modern world. We believe that real unity between believers can never be achieved until every one of us is prepared to learn. We must recognize our own imperfections, and we must want to grow past them. Not one of us could know, teach, or deny anything about salvation and spiritual things if God had not revealed them to us in His word (1 Corinthians 2:6-16). No one, no matter how experienced or how naïve, could have anything it had not been given by God (1 Corinthians 4:6-7).

For this reason, our journal will not set out to prove or to support any creed or presupposed list of doctrines. Everyone who has been exposed to the Bible has a view as to which doctrines and passages are most important – we as editors are no different! For this reason, we have denied ourselves the right to decide which biblical topics should matter to our readers, and which are best left out. The pages of this journal are open to any discussion that touches on the content and importance of any part of God’s word. We will contribute what seems significant to us, and we invite you, reader, to do the same. Together, we may share a fuller appreciation for the depths of Scripture.

Further, we invite open discussion and criticism on any view expressed in this journal. We cannot learn if we do not allow ourselves to be vulnerable. Contentment and arrogance are the enemies of growth, so we must never confess that our study of the Scriptures is finished. We must never decide that we know all that God’s word contains, nor would it be proper to assume that what we know, we know perfectly. We can only grow if we open ourselves to guidance and constructive criticism. We invite you to help us grow, and we hope to share that experience with you.
